For Your Holiday Drinking Pleasure: Cranberry, Apple, and Spice Infused Vodka

Because it's Friday and because I've never infused vodka before. It was due time I introduced my favorite spirit to some of my favorite wintertime flavors. Tito's Vodka happens to be my go-to for the stuff that makes me extra giggly, and arguably, extra cute. Ok, I may be joking about the cute part. This (hopefully) righteous infused vodka concoction was dreamed up once Frieda's Produce sent me some mulling spice and green dragon apples just a couple of weeks ago. They're a pretty rad company, by the way. They carry all the exotic fruits, veggies, and miscellaneous items that you see on fancy dishes at restaurants and in the hands of cool chefs on TV.

I hadn't seen mulling spice since my mom used to simmer it on the stove to make the house smell festive and fragrant around Christmastime. What on earth was I to do with the assortment of spices...in this day and age? I mean, do people still simmer that stuff for a delicious smelling home? Isn't that what candles are for? I regress. So the mulling spice was simply going to adapt to my kinda use. Vodka infusion, of course.

Infusing vodka with apples was a no brainer. And these green dragon apples offer something special for the palate. A little sweeter than a Granny Smith and only subtly tart. I threw in cranberries (which I quickly cooked until they bursted) since I had some leftover from Thanksgiving and since they added a nice pop of red to the mixture. Plus, I'm thinking a cranberry, apple, and spice infused vodka is going to be a seriously scrumptious libation delight in just a few days.

Stay tuned for how this creation turns out next week when I make an extra special cocktail with it. I promise, you will not be disappointed!

Oh, and Happy Friday!!!

Cranberry, Apple, and Spice Infused Vodka

Ingredients:

1 750 ml bottle of Vodka (I like Tito's)

2 small-medium apples of your choice, sliced

1/2 cup cranberries

1/3 cup mulling spice mix

Directions:

1) In a small saucepan, add the cranberries a few tablespoons water. Cook on medium heat, stirring, until the cranberries burst. Remove from heat.

2) Fill a mason jar (or the like) with the cranberries, sliced apples, and mulling spice. Pour the vodka on top. Cover and seal. Shake.

3) Place in the fridge for 2-5 days. The longer it sits, the stronger the flavors will be.

4) Strain the vodka into a new container and then pour over ice. Top with ginger ale, apple juice, or whatever mixer you like best.

5) ENJOY!
