Palm Springs Getaway
I can't even begin to tell you how necessary this Palm Springs getaway was for my mind...and my spirit. Because after dealing with an extremely stressful...and kinda sorta soul crushing couple of weeks (FYI: all is good in my world again), I just needed a break, a distraction, and a seriously stiff cocktail. And a pre-birthday weekend full of 85 degree sunshine with my #1 (that would be my adoring husband) accomplished all of the above.
Sure, it was short but it was oh-so sweet too. Because I can't even remember the last time Chris and I relaxed quite like this. And with only a 2 hour drive (gotta love those quick and easy Los Angeles road trips) and the lovely and quaint Spanish-style Triada booked completely on Marriott points, this 2-nighter was simply, a no brainer.
Friday afternoon pretty much consisted of mojitos by the pool while donning my favorite new swimsuit. I had to really "dig" to find this Rip curl one piece too since it was from last season and sold out at most stores. Thankfully a surf shop in little ole Daytona, Florida came through for me with a serious Google shopping search. The back of it is super low with fringe wrapping all around. And with minimal coverage, Chris was definitely not missing the usual bikini.
Because I've always got that fear of missing out complex going on (I also refuse to use the term FOMO because it's stupid) we did some pool hopping on Saturday. Holiday House and Colony Palms were our targets and they did not disappoint. This outdoor lounge area at Holiday House was like a freaking sanctuary and also inspiration for my backyard (which definitely needs some work). This suit is another favorite one piece from my go-to, Urban Outfitters. I'm just so in love with the color of it and also, the strappy back that's pieced together with brass rings.
Our last day in paradise meant a morning of poolside lounging followed by a brunch (and ahem, photo session) visit to our favorite resort in Palm Springs - Parker Le Meridien. Damn you Parker for leaving Starwood Properties! Don't get me wrong - the Triada was fabulous but nothing beats the Parker. It's literally the nicest resort I've ever stayed at.
We also enjoyed some strolling and shopping in town, where I somehow convinced Chris to get me a new pair of Ray Bans for my birthday on the spot. It also meant ice cream from the adorable Ice Cream + Shoppe, where I indulged in a Pomegranate Chip and Mint Chip double scoop on a salted pretzel cone. Yes, it was absolutely as decadent and delicious as it sounds.
Can't I just get a Palm Springs weekend every month? I think I deserve it.
